NSW: Police hit by stolen car and killed

Stunned police officers today watched as a fellow policeman was run down and killed
by a stolen car in Sydney's south-west.

As a massive manhunt got underway for the two offenders who are known to police, Police
Commissioner PETER RYAN made a personal plea for the men to give themselves up.

Senior constable JIM AFFLECK, 43, had just laid road spikes on the Hume Highway near
Campbelltown in an effort to stop the red Toyota Prado four-wheel drive when the vehicle
swerved and hit him at high speed.
