An Embassy Suites and a conference center are planned in Olathe. John Q. Hammons Hotels and Resorts is planning the 11-story hotel with atrium-style interior, sports bar, Internet cafe, gift shop, fitness center, and a pool. The conference center will be adjacent to the hotel situated at Kansas Highway 10 and Ridgeview Road. The company expects to break ground this fall with completion expected in the spring of 2010. The hotel will cost more than $75 million. Olathe will own the convention center. City officials say the community needs more space and capacity for its growing number of events.
